In a decisive Divisional Round matchup, the Detroit Lions topped the Dallas Cowboys 36-17, securing their spot in the upcoming conference championship. This victory not only showcased their offensive prowess but also solidified their status as serious contenders in the 2026 season. Leading the charge for the Lions was quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for an impressive 405 yards and two touchdowns, demonstrating pinpoint accuracy and a strong command of the offense. Amon-Ra St. Brown was his favorite target, racking up 163 receiving yards, while Jahmyr Gibbs contributed effectively on the ground with 61 rushing yards, adding balance to the Lions' offensive attack. Defensively, the Lions made crucial stops, particularly from Aidan Hutchinson, who recorded 1.5 sacks, disrupting the Cowboys' rhythm. The turning point came late in the second quarter when the Lions forced a turnover, allowing them to extend their lead before halftime. This momentum shift proved too much for the Cowboys to overcome, as Detroit's defense consistently pressured Dak Prescott, limiting his effectiveness throughout the game.
