In a decisive Week 2 matchup, the Detroit Lions topped the Buffalo Bills with a commanding 42-28 victory, further establishing their momentum early in the 2026 season. The Lions' explosive performance solidified their position as a team to watch, while the Bills struggled to keep pace in front of their home crowd. Jared Goff shone for Detroit, throwing three touchdown passes and leading the offense with precision. Meanwhile, Jahmyr Gibbs dominated on the ground, racking up an impressive 176 rushing yards that kept the Bills' defense on its heels. For Buffalo, Josh Allen managed to throw for 244 yards, but the offense couldn't find the end zone often enough to match the Lions' firepower. Detroit’s defense played a crucial role in the outcome, highlighted by Aidan Hutchinson's sack and Brian Branch's interception. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Branch's pick thwarted a potential scoring drive by the Bills, allowing the Lions to extend their lead and take control of the game. With Roger McCreary leading the defense with five tackles, Detroit's unit proved formidable, contributing significantly to the team's overall success.
