In a thrilling Week 17 showdown, the Miami Dolphins narrowly defeated the Salt Lake City Bills with a final score of 25-22, solidifying their playoff positioning as the regular season draws to a close. Both teams entered the contest looking to secure crucial momentum heading into the postseason, but it was Miami that came out on top in a tightly contested battle. Offensively, Dak Prescott led the Bills with an impressive 266 passing yards, showcasing his ability to move the ball downfield. However, it was Justin Fields of the Dolphins who made the most of his opportunities, throwing a crucial touchdown pass that proved pivotal in the game. On the ground, Kenneth Walker shined for Salt Lake City, racking up 109 rushing yards, but Miami's Adonai Mitchell also made his mark with 95 receiving yards, contributing significantly to the Dolphins' offensive success. Defensively, the Dolphins were anchored by Minkah Fitzpatrick, who not only recorded nine total tackles but also snagged an interception that shifted the momentum in Miami's favor. The game’s turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Fitzpatrick’s pick set up a scoring drive that ultimately sealed the victory for Miami. Meanwhile, B.J. Hill's strong performance for the Bills included 1.5 sacks, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Dolphins' timely defensive plays when it mattered most.
