In a dominant display to kick off the 2027 season, the Minnesota Vikings crushed the Detroit Lions with a final score of 63-28. The matchup was a crucial early-season contest, but the Vikings showcased their offensive firepower and solidified their position as a team to watch this year. Trevor Lawrence was the star of the game for the Vikings, throwing for four touchdowns and guiding the offense with precision. Meanwhile, Trey Benson tore through the Lions' defense with a staggering 227 rushing yards, while Jaylen Waddle added 120 receiving yards, proving to be a reliable target throughout the game. The Vikings' ability to score quickly and efficiently put the Lions on their heels from the start. Defensively, the Vikings were relentless, with Kelly Jones leading the charge with five total tackles. Greg Rousseau contributed with 1.5 sacks, applying pressure on Lions quarterback Arch Manning, who managed 240 passing yards but struggled to find rhythm. The game's turning point came in the second quarter when Antoine Winfield's interception halted a Lions drive, allowing the Vikings to extend their lead and never look back.
