In a thrilling season opener, the Cleveland Browns narrowly defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars with a final score of 38-34. The matchup showcased two potent offenses, but it was the Browns who emerged victorious in a game that set the tone for both teams in the 2026 season. Cleveland's Malik Willis had a standout performance, throwing for two touchdowns while effectively managing the game. Jim Brown led the ground attack with 98 rushing yards, providing a powerful presence that kept the Jaguars' defense on its heels. Meanwhile, Jalen Hurts lit up the field for Jacksonville, racking up an impressive 407 passing yards, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Defensively, Cleveland's Payton Wilson was a key contributor, leading the team with seven total tackles to help stifle Jacksonville's late-game drives. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when the Browns' defense held strong, forcing a crucial turnover that allowed them to maintain their slim lead. Despite strong efforts from the Jaguars, including a 1.5 sack performance from Jaishawn Barham and an interception by Benjamin Morrison, the Browns' resilience on defense sealed their thrilling victory.
