In a closely contested NFC North battle, the Green Bay Packers narrowly defeated the Minnesota Vikings 19-16 to start their 2026 season with a victory. This Week 1 matchup set the tone for what promises to be another thrilling year in the division, with both teams coming in with high expectations. The Packers' ability to grind out a win on the road gives them an early edge in the standings. Offensively, the Packers leaned heavily on their ground game, with Josh Jacobs leading the charge. Jacobs amassed an impressive 135 rushing yards, providing Green Bay with the necessary balance to keep the Vikings' defense on their heels. While Jordan Love threw for just one touchdown, it was enough to secure the win against a determined Minnesota squad. On the other side, Kyler Murray was productive through the air with 271 passing yards, finding Justin Jefferson often, as the star receiver hauled in 131 receiving yards. Defensively, the Packers made critical plays when it mattered most, with Micah Parsons recording two pivotal sacks that halted Minnesota drives. Edgerrin Cooper's interception also played a key role in stifling the Vikings' comeback attempts. The turning point came in the fourth quarter, as the Packers' defensive front pressured Murray into hurried throws, ultimately sealing the victory for Green Bay. Minnesota's Jake Golday led all defenders with nine tackles, but it wasn't enough to alter the outcome of this hard-fought contest.
