In a thrilling season opener, the Philadelphia Eagles narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders 22-17, setting the tone for an exciting 2027 campaign. Both teams fought hard for an early win, but it was the Eagles who emerged victorious, showcasing their resilience at home. Jalen Hurts led the charge for Philadelphia, passing for 234 yards, while Makai Lemon shined in the receiving game with 101 yards. On the other side, Washington's Jayden Daniels threw for two touchdowns, but it was Tyler Allgeier's 74 rushing yards that kept the Commanders competitive throughout the game. Defensively, the Commanders were anchored by Sonny Styles, who recorded eight total tackles, and Odafe Oweh, who contributed one sack. However, it was the Eagles' ability to create key stops at critical moments that proved decisive, particularly in the fourth quarter, where their defense held firm to seal the win and start the season on a high note.
