In a decisive season opener, the New Orleans Saints beat the Detroit Lions 26-10, showcasing their dominance on both sides of the ball. With playoff aspirations high, the Saints made a statement in Week 1, setting the tone for the rest of the season. Tyler Shough led the Saints’ offense with two touchdown passes, effectively spreading the ball around while Travis Etienne Jr. added a solid ground game with 76 rushing yards. Despite a strong receiving performance from Jameson Williams, who racked up 151 yards for the Lions, Goff struggled to find the end zone, unable to capitalize on his passing yardage. The Saints' defense played a pivotal role, highlighted by Kaden Elliss, who recorded two sacks to disrupt Detroit's offensive rhythm. The turning point came in the second quarter, when Elliss's pressure led to a crucial turnover that swung momentum firmly in New Orleans' favor, allowing them to maintain control throughout the game.
