In a decisive start to the 2026 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers topped the Cincinnati Bengals with a final score of 31-17. The Buccaneers came into this matchup looking to set the tone for the year, and they certainly did just that by securing an impressive victory on the road. Baker Mayfield was the standout performer for Tampa Bay, throwing for 340 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his ability to command the offense effectively. Complementing Mayfield's stellar performance were Bucky Irving, who rushed for 86 yards, and Emeka Egbuka, who racked up 119 receiving yards, each contributing significantly to the Buccaneers' offensive output. Defensively, the Buccaneers were able to stifle the Bengals' attempts to mount a comeback, led by Tykee Smith's four total tackles and Rueben Bain Jr.'s critical sack. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Mayfield connected with Egbuka for a touchdown, extending their lead and putting the Bengals in a tough position to recover. Despite an interception from DJ Turner II of Cincinnati, the Buccaneers' defense held firm, ensuring their victory was never truly in doubt.
