In a commanding performance, the Kansas City Chiefs topped the San Francisco 49ers 35-7 in Week 16 of the 2026 season. With playoff implications on the line, Kansas City solidified their position in the postseason race, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive prowess throughout the game. Patrick Mahomes led the charge for the Chiefs with an efficient 173 passing yards, while Brock Purdy managed to find the end zone for San Francisco with one touchdown pass. However, it was Kenneth Walker's explosive 118 rushing yards and Xavier Worthy's standout receiving performance with 101 yards that truly fueled Kansas City's offensive onslaught, helping them build an insurmountable lead. Defensively, the Chiefs were relentless, highlighted by George Karlaftis's impactful sack and Mansoor Delane's crucial interception that shifted momentum. The turning point came in the second quarter when Kansas City scored back-to-back touchdowns, leaving the 49ers struggling to recover. Osa Odighizuwa led San Francisco's defense with three tackles, but it wasn't enough to contain the Chiefs' relentless attack.
