In a tightly contested battle, the Jacksonville Jaguars narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders 23-20 in Week 17 of the 2026 season. With playoff aspirations on the line, both teams fought hard, but it was the Jaguars who emerged victorious at home, securing a crucial win as the regular season nears its conclusion. Trevor Lawrence led the way for Jacksonville, throwing for 209 yards and tossing one touchdown pass, showcasing his ability to manage the game effectively. Brian Thomas Jr. was his top target, racking up 95 receiving yards, while the Jaguars' offense maintained steady pressure throughout the contest. Despite a strong showing from the Commanders' Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who rushed for 57 yards, Washington struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities. Defensively, the Jaguars were a force to be reckoned with, highlighted by Jaylon Johnson's seven tackles and a pivotal interception from Jourdan Lewis. Travon Walker also contributed with a sack, disrupting the Commanders' rhythm at crucial moments. The game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Lewis's interception halted a potential game-winning drive, allowing the Jaguars to run out the clock and seal their victory.
