In a thrilling Week 17 showdown, the Minnesota Vikings narrowly defeated the New York Jets 35-29, solidifying their playoff aspirations in the 2026 season. With both teams fighting for positioning, the stakes were high, and every play mattered in this high-scoring affair. Kyler Murray was the standout performer for Minnesota, throwing for five touchdowns and propelling his team to victory. Drake Maye of the Jets put on an impressive display as well, racking up 461 passing yards, but it wasn’t enough to match Murray's efficiency. Arian Smith shined in the receiving game for New York, finishing with 131 yards, but the Vikings' offensive firepower ultimately proved too much. Defensively, the Vikings made key stops, with Denzel Ward leading the way with four tackles, while Jalen Redmond added a crucial sack to disrupt the Jets' momentum. The game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Minnesota's defense held strong, forcing a turnover on downs that allowed the Vikings to run out the clock and secure the win. Malachi Moore's interception for the Jets showcased their defensive efforts, but it wasn't enough to shift the outcome in their favor.
