In a commanding performance, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Kansas City Chiefs 56-24 in Week 16 of the 2026 season, solidifying their playoff positioning. The victory was crucial for San Francisco as they look to maintain momentum heading into the postseason, while the Chiefs will need to regroup after this tough loss. Brock Purdy delivered an exceptional outing for the 49ers, throwing for five touchdowns and showcasing his efficiency in the passing game. Although Patrick Mahomes led all quarterbacks with 204 passing yards for Kansas City, the Chiefs struggled to keep pace with San Francisco's offensive onslaught. Tyquan Thornton was the top receiver for the Chiefs, racking up 94 yards, but it wasn’t enough to match the firepower of the 49ers. Defensively, San Francisco made critical plays that shifted the momentum in their favor. Dre Greenlaw’s two interceptions were particularly damaging to Kansas City, halting any chance of a comeback. Additionally, Nick Bosa’s sack added pressure on Mahomes, contributing to a day filled with struggles for the Chiefs' offense, which ultimately led to their downfall in this high-stakes matchup.
