In a crucial Week 16 matchup, the New Orleans Saints secured a 22-15 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, solidifying their playoff aspirations. With the stakes high in the final weeks of the season, both teams fought hard, but it was the Saints who emerged victorious on their home turf. New Orleans quarterback Tyler Shough led the charge with a modest yet effective performance, throwing for 110 yards and two touchdowns. The ground game was dominated by Travis Etienne Jr., who racked up an impressive 140 rushing yards, consistently moving the chains and keeping the Cardinals' defense on their heels. Wide receiver Chris Olave also contributed with 51 receiving yards, helping to balance the Saints' offensive attack. Defensively, the Saints made key plays to stifle Arizona's efforts, with Kool-Aid McKinstry snagging an interception that proved pivotal in maintaining momentum. The game's turning point came late in the second quarter when the Saints scored on a touchdown drive that shifted the tide in their favor. Though the Cardinals' Calijah Kancey recorded seven tackles and Zaven Collins added a sack, it was New Orleans' defensive resilience that ultimately secured the win.
