The Los Angeles Chargers topped the Denver Broncos 21-9 in a crucial Week 5 matchup of the 2026 season. With both teams vying for playoff positioning, the Chargers' victory solidifies their standing as a formidable contender in the AFC West. Justin Herbert was the star of the show, throwing for 299 yards and leading the offense effectively throughout the game. Keaton Mitchell added a solid ground game with 61 rushing yards, while Jeff Caldwell showcased his receiving prowess, racking up an impressive 147 yards. Bo Nix managed to find the end zone once for the Broncos, but it was not enough to keep pace with the Chargers' offensive firepower. Defensively, the Chargers made key plays that shifted momentum in their favor, most notably Robert Rochell's interception that halted a potential scoring drive from Denver. Although Denver’s Zach Allen recorded two sacks, the Chargers maintained control, with their defense effectively limiting the Broncos’ offensive opportunities. The turning point came in the second quarter when the Chargers capitalized on a turnover, turning it into a touchdown that gave them a lead they would not relinquish.
