In a tightly contested matchup, the New York Giants narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders 20-14 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. Both teams entered the game looking to gain momentum, but it was the Giants who emerged victorious, securing a crucial win in their quest for playoff positioning. Leading the way offensively for the Giants was Tyrone Tracy Jr., who rushed for an impressive 105 yards, providing the ground game that set the tone for New York's success. On the other side, Jayden Daniels put up a valiant effort for the Commanders, throwing for 265 yards and a touchdown while Stefon Diggs shined in the receiving game with 137 yards. The Giants' ability to balance their offense with strong rushing and timely passing proved pivotal. Defensively, Brian Burns was a standout for the Giants, recording two sacks that disrupted Daniels' rhythm and kept the Commanders' offense off balance. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Burns' second sack led to a key turnover on downs, allowing New York to maintain their lead. Despite a valiant effort from Washington’s Leo Chenal, who tallied nine total tackles, it was not enough to secure the win.
