The Detroit Lions cruised to a decisive 27-7 victory over the New York Jets in Week 3 of the 2026 season, showcasing their dominance on both sides of the ball. With this win, the Lions improve their record and solidify their position as a contender in the early stages of the season. Quarterback Jared Goff led the charge for Detroit, throwing for 271 yards and three touchdowns, proving to be a formidable presence in the pocket. Jahmyr Gibbs was a standout in the receiving game, racking up 121 yards, while the Lions’ offense effectively controlled the pace of the game. The Jets struggled to keep pace, with Breece Hall's 83 rushing yards the lone bright spot for New York. Defensively, the Lions asserted themselves with a strong performance, highlighted by Kayvon Thibodeaux's sack that disrupted the Jets' offensive rhythm. The turning point came in the second quarter when Goff connected with Gibbs for a touchdown, extending the lead and putting the Jets in a deep hole. Despite Minkah Fitzpatrick’s interception for New York, the Lions' defense held firm, allowing them to maintain control and secure the win.
