In a commanding display to kick off the 2026 season, the Denver Broncos topped the Kansas City Chiefs with a final score of 47-19. This decisive victory sets a strong tone for the Broncos as they look to establish themselves in the competitive AFC West. Meanwhile, the Chiefs will need to regroup after a tough opening week. Offensively, Bo Nix led the charge for the Broncos, throwing for four touchdowns and solidifying his role as a key playmaker. J.K. Dobbins contributed significantly on the ground, racking up 98 rushing yards and keeping the Chiefs' defense on their heels. For Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes threw for 291 yards and connected with Xavier Worthy, who tallied an impressive 148 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. Defensively, the Broncos put together a strong performance, highlighted by Jonathon Cooper's 2.5 sacks, which disrupted Mahomes' rhythm throughout the game. Justin Strnad also made his presence felt with an interception, exemplifying Denver's ability to capitalize on mistakes. The turning point came midway through the second quarter when a crucial interception shifted momentum, allowing the Broncos to extend their lead and control the game from there.
