In a commanding display, the Washington Commanders topped the San Francisco 49ers 37-24 in Week 6 of the 2026 season. With this victory, the Commanders solidify their position in the playoff race, while the 49ers will need to regroup after a tough outing at home. Brock Purdy put on a show for the 49ers, throwing for an impressive 366 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to stretch the field. Deebo Samuel Sr. was a standout target, racking up 197 receiving yards and making crucial catches to keep drives alive. However, it was Jarquez Hunter's ground game for the Commanders that kept their offense balanced, as he added 59 rushing yards to complement their aerial attack. Defensively, Washington's Nick Cross made a pivotal impact with a key interception, halting a potential scoring drive from the 49ers. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Cross's pick set up a touchdown that shifted the momentum firmly in favor of the Commanders. While the 49ers had contributors like Fred Warner with eight tackles, they were unable to consistently pressure the Commanders, allowing them to dictate the pace and secure the win.
