The Los Angeles Chargers opened their 2026 season with an impressive 56-28 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, showcasing their offensive firepower from the start. The win sets a strong tone for the Chargers, who look to build momentum as they aim for a deep playoff run this year. Justin Herbert was nothing short of spectacular, throwing for a staggering 449 yards and an astounding seven touchdowns, marking a historic performance for the quarterback. Ladd McConkey also shined on the receiving end, racking up 214 yards, making it a nightmare for the Cardinals' secondary to contain the explosive Chargers' offense. Jeremiyah Love put up a valiant effort for Arizona, rushing for 224 yards, but it was not enough to keep pace with Los Angeles. Defensively, the Chargers managed to stifle the Cardinals' momentum at key moments, with Donte Jackson securing an interception that shifted the game's dynamic. The turning point came when Jackson picked off a pass in the first half, leading to a quick touchdown that put the Chargers ahead significantly. Though Shaq Thompson recorded two sacks for Arizona, the Chargers' defense, led by Tarheeb Still's three tackles, effectively held off any substantial comeback attempts, ensuring a commanding victory.
