In a tightly contested matchup, the Detroit Lions held off the Minnesota Vikings with a final score of 22-16 in Week 8 of the 2026 season. With playoff implications looming, this victory keeps the Lions competitive in a crowded division race, showcasing their resilience at home. Jared Goff led the charge for Detroit, throwing for 187 yards and two touchdown passes, demonstrating poise in critical moments. His connection with Isaac TeSlaa was pivotal, as TeSlaa racked up 69 receiving yards, adding a crucial element to the Lions' offensive strategy. The combination of Goff's accuracy and the Lions' running game helped maintain a steady flow of offense throughout the game. On the defensive side, the Lions made key plays to secure the win, highlighted by Jessie Bates III's interception that stifled a potential scoring drive from Minnesota. The Lions' defense, while not dominating, made timely stops when it mattered most.
