In a tightly contested matchup, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers held off the Minnesota Vikings with a final score of 27-23, improving their record to 2-1 in the 2026 season. This victory was crucial for the Buccaneers as they look to establish themselves as contenders in the NFC South. Baker Mayfield was the standout performer for Tampa Bay, throwing for 304 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to command the offense effectively. Justin Jefferson of the Vikings also had a stellar game, racking up 115 receiving yards, while Aaron Jones Sr. contributed 60 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win for Minnesota. Defensively, Josiah Trotter led the Buccaneers with 11 total tackles, playing a pivotal role in containing the Vikings' offense. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Tampa Bay's defense forced a critical turnover, allowing Mayfield to orchestrate a drive that sealed the victory. Despite a strong effort from Jalen Redmond, who notched 1.5 sacks for Minnesota, it was the Buccaneers' resilience on both sides of the ball that ultimately secured the win.
