The Washington Commanders topped the Jacksonville Caimans 38-13 in a decisive Week 17 matchup, solidifying their playoff positioning as the season nears its conclusion. The Commanders showcased their dominance on both sides of the ball, while the Caimans struggled to find their rhythm despite some individual highlights. Washington's ground game was led by Bhayshul Tuten, who racked up an impressive 174 rushing yards, making crucial contributions that fueled their offensive attack. On the other side, Fernando Mendoza put up notable numbers for Jacksonville, throwing for 317 yards and two touchdowns, but ultimately couldn't keep pace with the explosive Commanders' offense. Ted Hurst III also shone in the receiving game with 126 yards, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. Defensively, the Commanders were relentless, with Danielle Hunter leading the charge by recording 2.5 sacks, putting constant pressure on Mendoza. Tyler Owens added to the defensive showcase with two interceptions, which proved critical in swinging momentum. The game turned decisively in the second quarter when Washington scored two quick touchdowns, creating a gap that Jacksonville couldn't close for the rest of the contest.
