In a decisive clash during Week 16 of the 2026 season, the Kansas City Chiefs topped the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 35-17. With playoff implications on the line, Kansas City solidified its position in the postseason race, showcasing an explosive offensive performance throughout the game. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the star of the night, throwing for 309 yards and five touchdowns, highlighting his ability to find open receivers and execute under pressure. Wide receiver Jeff Caldwell emerged as his top target, racking up 144 receiving yards and contributing significantly to the Chiefs' scoring barrage. Meanwhile, Christian McCaffrey led the 49ers on the ground with 78 rushing yards, but San Francisco struggled to keep pace with the high-powered Kansas City offense. Defensively, the Chiefs were effective in limiting the 49ers' opportunities, with Troy Andersen notching an interception that proved critical in shifting the momentum. The turning point came in the second quarter when Andersen's pick set up another Mahomes touchdown pass, allowing Kansas City to extend their lead. Although Fred Warner made a strong showing for San Francisco with five tackles and a sack, it wasn't enough to curtail the Chiefs' offensive explosion.
