In a commanding performance, the New England Patriots shut out the Houston Texans with a final score of 21-0 in Week 3 of the 2027 season. This victory not only boosts the Patriots' record but also signals their defensive dominance as they aim for playoff contention early in the season. Drake Maye led the charge for the Patriots with a solid outing, throwing for 228 yards and a touchdown, while Tory Horton emerged as his primary target, racking up 108 receiving yards. The ground game was less prolific, with TreVeyon Henderson contributing 29 rushing yards, but the Patriots' balanced attack proved sufficient to control the pace of the game. Defensively, the Patriots were relentless, with Kevin Byard III making a significant impact by securing two interceptions. The turning point came in the second quarter when Byard's second pick set up Maye for a touchdown drive, extending the lead and effectively sealing the Texans' fate. Despite strong individual performances from Houston's Jalen Pitre and Will Anderson Jr., the Texans could not find their rhythm, resulting in a frustrating afternoon.
