The Kansas City Chiefs opened the 2026 season with an impressive 64-35 victory over the Denver Broncos, establishing their dominance in the AFC West. With both teams eager to set the tone for the year, the Chiefs showcased their offensive firepower, leaving no doubt about their championship aspirations. Patrick Mahomes was nothing short of spectacular, throwing for 361 yards and five touchdowns, effectively dismantling the Broncos' secondary. Meanwhile, Kenneth Walker added a strong ground game with 131 rushing yards, providing the Chiefs with a balanced attack. Marvin Mims Jr. stood out for Denver, racking up 128 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the high-flying Chiefs. The Kansas City defense played a pivotal role, with Nohl Williams leading the team with four tackles and Mansoor Delane snagging an interception. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Delane's pick set up another quick score for the Chiefs, widening the gap and putting the Broncos in a hole they could not escape. With strong performances on both sides of the ball, Kansas City sent a clear message to the league: they are ready to contend for the title once again.
