In a thrilling Wildcard Round matchup, the San Francisco 49ers narrowly defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-21, advancing in the 2026 postseason. With both teams vying for a shot at the championship, the stakes were high as the 49ers showcased their resilience on the road. Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers with an impressive 293 passing yards and three touchdown passes, keeping Tampa Bay in the hunt until the final whistle. However, it was Christian McCaffrey of the 49ers who stole the show, dominating the ground game with a staggering 253 rushing yards, providing San Francisco with the offensive firepower needed to secure the win. On the defensive side, the Buccaneers struggled to contain McCaffrey, which proved to be the turning point in the game. Despite a strong effort from Zyon McCollum, who recorded three tackles, Tampa Bay's defense couldn't stop the critical drives that sealed the 49ers' victory. San Francisco's ability to control the clock and make key stops ultimately paved the way for their advancement in the playoffs.
