In a tightly contested match, the Washington Commanders narrowly defeated the New York Giants 27-22 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. Both teams came in looking to solidify their standings, but it was the Commanders who emerged victorious, pulling off a crucial win at home. Lamar Jackson led the Commanders' offense with precision, throwing for two touchdowns and keeping the chains moving under pressure. On the other side, Jordan Love put up impressive numbers for the Giants, passing for 230 yards and connecting with standout receiver Xavier Worthy, who racked up 114 receiving yards. Chase Brown also contributed significantly on the ground with 96 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to secure victory. Defensively, the Commanders made their presence felt, highlighted by Anthony Hill Jr.'s seven total tackles and Aaron Donald's 1.5 sacks, which disrupted the Giants' offensive rhythm. A key moment came when Chidobe Awuzie intercepted a pass, shifting momentum back to Washington and sealing the win. The Commanders' defense proved to be the deciding factor in this closely matched showdown.
