In a decisive Week 2 showdown, the Dallas Cowboys dominated the Washington Commanders with a final score of 34-3. This victory not only boosts Dallas's early-season momentum but also solidifies their standing as a formidable force in the league. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was the standout performer for the Cowboys, throwing for 278 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his precision and poise in the pocket. He connected frequently with Mike Evans, who racked up 141 receiving yards, proving to be an unstoppable force against the Commanders' secondary. Meanwhile, Travis Etienne Jr. contributed significantly on the ground, amassing 94 rushing yards to keep the offensive engine running smoothly. Defensively, the Cowboys were relentless, with Oluwafemi Oladejo leading the charge with 2.5 sacks, putting constant pressure on the Washington offense. The turning point of the game came early in the second quarter when Dallas scored back-to-back touchdowns, effectively putting the game out of reach for a struggling Commanders squad. While Joey Bosa of Washington recorded 10 tackles, it wasn't enough to counter the Cowboys' offensive onslaught, underscoring the disparity in performance between the two teams.
