In a thrilling opener to the 2027 season, the Buffalo Bills topped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 35-28, setting the tone for the year ahead. Both teams showcased their offensive prowess, but it was the Bills who made the critical plays when it mattered most to secure the victory. Josh Allen was the standout performer for Buffalo, throwing for an impressive 379 yards and four touchdowns, solidifying his status as a top-tier quarterback. Rico Dowdle added a strong ground game with 64 rushing yards, while Ryan Wingo led the receiving corps for Tampa Bay with 107 yards, highlighting the aerial capabilities of both offenses. Defensively, the game was punctuated by Xavier Scott's crucial interception for Buffalo, which shifted momentum back to the Bills during a critical moment. Despite Benjamin Morrison's six tackles and Chris Cole's sack for Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers were unable to contain Buffalo's offensive execution in the second half, ultimately allowing the Bills to hold off the late-game surge and secure the win.
