In a tightly contested Week 9 matchup, the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 20-17, securing a crucial victory that keeps their playoff hopes alive. With both teams fighting for positioning in the competitive AFC, every point mattered, leading to a thrilling finish at Allegiant Stadium. Las Vegas quarterback Fernando Mendoza put on a show, throwing for 304 yards and a touchdown, while Jalen Nailor emerged as his top target with 112 receiving yards. Ashton Jeanty added a solid ground game, rushing for 76 yards, but it ultimately wasn't enough to overcome the Chiefs' balanced attack and strong defensive effort. Defensively, Drue Tranquill led the Chiefs with nine total tackles, providing key stops throughout the game, while R Mason Thomas made his presence felt with 2.5 sacks, disrupting Mendoza's rhythm and forcing critical mistakes. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Thomas's pressure led to a crucial interception, allowing Kansas City to capitalize and secure the win.
