In a thrilling Week 3 showdown, the New York Jets topped the Detroit Lions with a final score of 31-24, improving their record early in the 2026 season. Both teams came in looking to secure a pivotal win, but it was the Jets who emerged victorious in a tightly contested battle. Jared Goff was the standout performer for the Lions, throwing for 288 yards and connecting for three touchdowns, showcasing his aerial prowess. However, it was Breece Hall who stole the show on the ground for New York, racking up 110 rushing yards and providing a much-needed balance to the Jets' offense. Amon-Ra St. Brown also had a stellar game for Detroit, leading all receivers with 129 yards. Defensively, the Jets made critical plays that influenced the outcome, with Will McDonald IV recording two sacks to disrupt Goff's rhythm. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Roger McCreary intercepted Goff twice, effectively halting Detroit's momentum and allowing New York to maintain their lead. The Jets' defense stepped up when it mattered most, sealing the victory and sending a strong message to the league.
