In a thrilling Week 1 matchup, the Kansas City Chiefs held off the Denver Broncos with a final score of 34-28, kicking off the 2026 season in dramatic fashion. Both teams showcased their talent, but it was the Chiefs who emerged victorious, setting the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead. Bo Nix of the Broncos put on an impressive performance, throwing for 279 yards and three touchdowns, effectively keeping Denver in the game. However, Kansas City’s offense proved to be just a bit more explosive, with Kenneth Walker leading the ground attack with 85 rushing yards, while Xavier Worthy shone through the air, racking up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown of his own. Defensively, the Chiefs made crucial plays that turned the tide in their favor, most notably with Mansoor Delane's two interceptions, which stifled Denver's momentum at key moments. Drue Tranquill added a sack, helping to pressure Nix and disrupt the Broncos' rhythm. The turning point came when Delane's second pick set up a touchdown drive that ultimately sealed the victory for Kansas City, showcasing their ability to capitalize on defensive opportunities.
