In a tightly contested Week 5 matchup, the New England Patriots narrowly defeated the Las Vegas Raiders with a final score of 24-17. With both teams vying for crucial playoff positioning early in the 2026 season, the stakes were high, making every play count in this hard-fought battle. Drake Maye led the Patriots' offense with a stellar performance, throwing for 270 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to make key throws under pressure. TreVeyon Henderson was a force on the ground, racking up an impressive 153 rushing yards, which helped keep the Raiders' defense on its heels. Meanwhile, Dont'e Thornton Jr. stood out for Las Vegas, receiving for 139 yards, but it wasn't enough to secure a win for his team. Defensively, the Patriots made crucial stops, highlighted by Kevin Byard III's game-changing interception that shifted momentum in the second half. While Carlton Davis III added pressure with a half-sack, it was the collective effort of New England’s defense that stifled the Raiders’ attempts to rally late in the game. The turning point came when Maye connected with his receivers on a series of key third downs, allowing the Patriots to maintain control and secure the victory.
