In a closely contested Week 5 matchup, the Detroit Lions narrowly defeated the Seattle Seahawks 15-13, enhancing their standing in the league. The stakes were high as both teams sought to solidify their playoff aspirations early in the season, making every point crucial. Jared Goff led the Lions' offense with a solid performance, racking up 262 passing yards. Jahmyr Gibbs contributed significantly on the ground with 85 rushing yards, providing the Lions with a balanced offensive attack. Meanwhile, Sam Darnold connected for one touchdown pass, but it wasn't enough to propel the Seahawks to victory, despite Jaxon Smith-Njigba's impressive 109 receiving yards. Defensively, the Lions were formidable, with Lonnie Johnson Jr. leading the charge with 10 total tackles. Levi Onwuzurike added pressure with a key sack, and Brian Branch's interception proved pivotal, stifling a potential game-winning drive from the Seahawks. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Branch's pick shifted momentum back to Detroit, allowing them to hold off a desperate Seattle offense and secure the win.
