In a high-stakes matchup, the Detroit Lions topped the New York Giants with a convincing 45-28 victory in Week 16 of the 2026 season. With playoff implications on the line, the Lions secured their position as a formidable contender in the postseason race, while the Giants faced a critical setback in their quest for a playoff berth. Lions quarterback Joe Milton had an outstanding performance, throwing for 4 touchdowns and leading his team with precision. On the other side, Jaxson Dart put up impressive numbers for the Giants, racking up 313 passing yards, while Cam Skattebo added a solid 105 rushing yards to keep the pressure on Detroit's defense. Calvin Austin was a bright spot for New York, catching for 140 yards, but it ultimately wasn't enough to keep pace with the Lions’ offensive onslaught. Detroit's defense played a pivotal role in the outcome, with Damone Clark leading the charge with 8 total tackles. Jack Campbell was a menace on the line, recording 2 sacks and disrupting the Giants' rhythm, while Christian Izien's 2 interceptions shifted the momentum decisively in favor of the Lions. The turning point came in the third quarter, when Izien's second pick set up a quick touchdown that stretched Detroit's lead and left New York scrambling to catch up.
