In an exciting season opener, the Detroit Lions narrowly defeated the New Orleans Saints, finishing the game with a final score of 28-25. Both teams entered the matchup eager to set the tone for the 2026 season, but it was the Lions who came out on top in this closely contested battle. Detroit's Joe Milton shone brightly, throwing for 231 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to lead the offense effectively. Amon-Ra St. Brown was his favorite target, racking up 100 receiving yards and providing crucial plays throughout the game. On the ground, the Saints' Travis Etienne Jr. made a significant impact with 116 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win. Defensively, the Lions made key plays that shifted momentum in their favor. Jack Campbell's interception was a pivotal moment, halting a Saints drive and giving Detroit renewed energy. Although Derrick Moore recorded half a sack, it was the collective effort of the Lions' defense that ultimately held off the Saints in the final minutes, allowing Detroit to start the season with a hard-fought victory.
