In an exciting season opener, the Arizona Cardinals outlasted the Los Angeles Chargers with a final score of 27-20. Both teams came into Week 1 eager to kick off the 2026 season on a high note, but it was the Cardinals who emerged victorious in this tightly contested matchup. Cardinals quarterback Jalen Hurts led the charge with an impressive 281 passing yards, connecting effectively with Marquise Brown, who tallied 111 receiving yards. On the other side, Chargers' Fernando Mendoza threw for two touchdowns, but it was Kenneth Walker's standout performance on the ground, rushing for 121 yards, that kept Los Angeles competitive throughout the game. Defensively, the Cardinals made key plays that shifted momentum, with Jonathan Greenard recording 1.5 sacks and John Franklin-Myers contributing three total tackles. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Jevon Holland intercepted a crucial pass, but with the Cardinals' pressure consistently disrupting the Chargers' offense, they managed to hold off any comeback attempts in the final minutes.
