In a commanding display of offensive prowess, the Los Angeles Chargers topped the Houston Texans 48-7 in Week 9 of the 2026 season. This decisive victory keeps the Chargers firmly in the playoff hunt, while the Texans struggle to find their footing in a challenging season. Quarterback Justin Herbert was nothing short of spectacular, racking up 405 passing yards and tossing five touchdown passes. He connected with wide receiver Quentin Johnston for a standout performance, as Johnston accumulated 168 receiving yards, proving to be a constant threat downfield. Meanwhile, Omarion Hampton added to the offensive onslaught with 98 rushing yards, showcasing the Chargers' ability to balance their attack effectively. Defensively, the Chargers made their mark with Alontae Taylor snagging an interception, which helped shift momentum early in the game. While Minkah Fitzpatrick led the Texans with ten total tackles, it was the Chargers' defense that stifled Houston's efforts, allowing them to control the pace and dictate the game's flow. The turning point came in the second quarter when the Chargers scored back-to-back touchdowns, putting the game firmly out of reach for the Texans.
