In a thrilling opening week of the 2026 season, the Los Angeles Chargers topped the Arizona Cardinals with a commanding 70-52 victory. The high-scoring affair showcased both teams' offensive firepower, but the Chargers ultimately secured the win, setting a strong tone for the season ahead. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was nothing short of spectacular, throwing for an impressive 466 yards and six touchdowns, delivering a performance that will be remembered throughout the league. On the other side, Arizona's Trey McBride had a standout game, racking up 234 receiving yards, but the Cardinals struggled to keep pace with the Chargers' relentless attack. Jeremiyah Love led the Cardinals in rushing, but with only 28 yards, the ground game couldn't find its rhythm. Defensively, the Chargers were effective in key moments, with Genesis Smith leading the team with five total tackles and Daiyan Henley contributing a sack that helped disrupt Arizona's offensive flow. The turning point came when the Chargers created pressure that led to an interception by Brandon Smith, halting a promising drive and allowing Los Angeles to extend their lead. As the Chargers move forward, they will look to build on this powerful performance while the Cardinals seek adjustments after a tough opening loss.
