The Indianapolis Colts topped the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-17 in a tightly contested Week 18 matchup, solidifying their playoff positioning as the regular season comes to a close. With both teams fighting for momentum heading into the postseason, the stakes were high, and the Colts delivered when it mattered most. Peyton Manning led the Colts' offense, throwing for one touchdown and managing the game effectively. On the ground, LaDainian Tomlinson added 76 rushing yards, while Marvin Harrison was the standout receiver, racking up 97 yards to keep the chains moving. Byron Leftwich of the Jaguars put up impressive numbers with 255 passing yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Colts' balanced attack. Defensively, the Colts were relentless, with Dwight Freeney recording two sacks that disrupted the Jaguars' rhythm. Terrall Rushing's eight tackles were pivotal in holding Jacksonville's ground game in check, forcing them to rely heavily on the pass. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Freeney's sack set up a crucial third-and-long, ultimately leading to a turnover that sealed the game for Indianapolis.
