In a decisive Divisional Round matchup, the Detroit Lions topped the New Orleans Saints 29-17, advancing deeper into the playoffs for the 2026 season. The stakes were high as both teams vied for a spot in the championship round, but the Lions proved too formidable on this day. Drew Brees led the Saints with an impressive performance, throwing for 245 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to move the offense. However, it was Kevin Jones of the Lions who shined on the ground, rushing for 79 yards and providing the necessary balance to Detroit's attack. The Lions capitalized on key moments, executing their game plan effectively. Defensively, the Lions were relentless, highlighted by Ernie Sims' standout performance, as he picked off Brees twice, shifting the momentum decisively in favor of Detroit. Daniel Bullocks also made his presence felt with two total tackles, helping to stifle the Saints' drives. The turning point came when Sims' second interception led to a pivotal touchdown, allowing Detroit to maintain control and ultimately secure the victory.
