In a decisive Week 1 matchup, the Detroit Lions topped the New Orleans Saints with a commanding final score of 31-6. This victory sets a strong tone for the Lions as they kick off the 2026 season, showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive strength right out of the gate. Detroit's offense was led by a stellar performance from Jahmyr Gibbs, who rushed for an impressive 196 yards, consistently breaking through the Saints' defense. Quarterback Joe Milton added to the scoring with a passing touchdown, while Jameson Williams contributed significantly in the air, racking up 72 receiving yards. This offensive trio was crucial in establishing a dominant lead early in the game. On the defensive side, the Lions made their presence felt with Aidan Hutchinson recording 1.5 sacks and Brian Branch snagging an interception. The turning point came when Branch’s interception halted a promising Saints drive, allowing Detroit to regain momentum and extend their lead. With Jack Campbell leading the Saints' defense with three tackles, the efforts ultimately fell short against a relentless Lions team that controlled the game from start to finish.
