In a thrilling Week 2 matchup of the 2027 season, the New England Patriots narrowly defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers by a final score of 38-34. Both teams fought hard, but the Patriots managed to hold off the Steelers in a contest that was crucial for early-season positioning. Drake Maye led the Patriots' offense with an impressive 396 passing yards, showcasing his ability to stretch the field. While the Steelers' Drew Allar matched him with three touchdown passes, it was Maye's consistent aerial assault that kept New England in control. The Patriots also benefitted from solid contributions from their receiving corps, which allowed them to capitalize on critical scoring opportunities. Defensively, the Patriots were able to disrupt the Steelers' rhythm, with Gabe Jacas recording 1.5 sacks. The turning point came late in the game when New England's defense stifled Pittsburgh's final drive, highlighted by Robert Spillane's aggressive tackling that limited their yardage. Despite a valiant effort from Ryan Williams, who racked up 143 receiving yards, the Steelers fell just short as the Patriots outlasted them in a nail-biter.
