In a hard-fought contest, the Detroit Lions narrowly defeated the New York Jets 20-17 in Week 3 of the 2026 season. With both teams looking to establish momentum early in the season, this matchup was crucial for positioning in their respective divisions. Offensively, the Jets saw Geno Smith put up strong numbers, throwing for 241 yards, but it was Jared Goff's steady performance and a single touchdown pass that ultimately made the difference for Detroit. Jahmyr Gibbs contributed with 51 rushing yards, providing the Lions with a balanced attack, while Garrett Wilson led the Jets' receiving corps with 91 yards, showcasing his ability to stretch the field. Defensively, the Lions' Jack Campbell was a game-changer, snagging two interceptions, which proved pivotal in stifling the Jets' offensive drives. While the Jets' Minkah Fitzpatrick recorded six tackles and David Bailey added 1.5 sacks, the Lions' ability to capitalize on turnovers shifted the momentum. The turning point came when Campbell's second interception set up a crucial touchdown drive, allowing Detroit to maintain their lead and ultimately secure the victory.
