In an explosive start to the 2026 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers outlasted the Atlanta Falcons with a final score of 52-42. Both teams showcased their offensive firepower, but it was the Steelers who secured the victory in Week 1, setting the tone for their campaign ahead. Drew Allar was the standout performer for Pittsburgh, throwing for an impressive 449 yards and six touchdowns, establishing himself as a formidable quarterback right out of the gate. DK Metcalf was his favorite target, racking up 201 receiving yards and finding the end zone multiple times, while Bijan Robinson led the Falcons with a solid 135 rushing yards, keeping Atlanta competitive throughout the game. The Steelers' defense played a pivotal role, led by T.J. Watt, who not only registered four total tackles but also dominated with three sacks, applying consistent pressure on the Falcons' offense. The turning point came in the second half when Pittsburgh's defense forced critical stops, allowing their offense to extend the lead and ultimately secure the win. Despite the Falcons' offensive efforts, it was Pittsburgh's defensive prowess that made the difference in this high-scoring affair.
