In a decisive Week 17 showdown, the Kansas City Chiefs topped the Los Angeles Chargers 35-17, solidifying their playoff positioning as the regular season draws to a close. With this victory, the Chiefs demonstrated their dominance, showcasing a potent offense and a resilient defense. Leading the charge for Kansas City was quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns, proving once again why he’s one of the league’s elite passers. He found his favorite target in Xavier Worthy, who amassed an impressive 178 receiving yards, making crucial catches that extended drives and kept the Chargers on their heels. Kenneth Walker contributed on the ground with 62 rushing yards, providing balance to the Chiefs' offensive attack. Defensively, the Chiefs were anchored by Drue Tranquill, who recorded 11 total tackles, ensuring gaps were filled and limiting the Chargers’ offensive opportunities. The game's turning point came when Mahomes connected with Worthy for a 60-yard touchdown in the third quarter, stretching the lead to 28-10 and leaving Los Angeles scrambling to respond. Despite Akheem Mesidor’s two sacks for the Chargers, Kansas City’s defensive unit held firm, preventing any significant comeback attempts.
