In a thrilling season opener, the Kansas City Chiefs outlasted the Denver Broncos with a final score of 35-28. Both teams were eager to make a statement in Week 1 of the 2026 season, but it was the Chiefs who came away with the victory, showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive resilience. Patrick Mahomes starred for Kansas City, throwing for three touchdowns while maintaining efficient control over the game. Kenneth Walker was a force on the ground, amassing an impressive 195 rushing yards, which kept the Broncos' defense on their heels. Meanwhile, Bo Nix led the Broncos with 221 passing yards and a strong performance from receiver Troy Franklin, who posted 93 yards receiving, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win. Defensively, the Chiefs made key plays to stifle the Broncos' momentum, highlighted by Chris Jones' lone sack that disrupted Nix's rhythm. The game's turning point came in the fourth quarter when the Chiefs intercepted a pass, shifting the momentum back in their favor. With the Broncos unable to capitalize on their opportunities late in the game, Kansas City solidified their win and set the tone for the rest of the season.
