In a thrilling contest that came down to the wire, the Kansas City Chiefs narrowly defeated the Miami Dolphins, 27-24, in Week 3 of the 2026 season. This matchup was critical for both teams as they sought to establish momentum early in the year, with the Chiefs looking to maintain their winning streak. Chiefs quarterback Rico Dowdle led the ground game with 74 rushing yards, but it was Malik Nabers who stole the show through the air, racking up 137 receiving yards. Miami's Cam Ward also put on an impressive performance, throwing for 276 yards and three touchdowns, though it ultimately wasn't enough to secure the win for the Dolphins. Defensively, the Chiefs made crucial plays that shifted the game's momentum. Nakobe Dean led the team with nine total tackles, while Will Anderson Jr. recorded a key sack. Jermod McCoy's interception proved to be a turning point, halting a potential scoring drive for Miami and allowing Kansas City to maintain their lead in the closing moments of the game.
