In a tightly contested matchup, the Washington Commanders topped the New York Giants 24-18 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. With both teams fighting for momentum, the Commanders secured a crucial victory that could have implications for their playoff aspirations. Jayden Daniels led the way for Washington, throwing for two touchdowns and contributing to the team's offensive success. Terry McLaurin was a standout in the receiving game, racking up 103 yards and proving to be a reliable target for Daniels. Meanwhile, Jacory Croskey-Merritt added solid ground support with 69 rushing yards, helping the Commanders maintain balance on offense. Defensively, Quan Martin's eight tackles were pivotal in containing the Giants' offense, particularly in critical moments. The game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Commanders' defense stifled a potential game-tying drive, allowing them to hold on to the lead and secure the win. Abdul Carter recorded a sack for New York, but it wasn't enough to shift the momentum back in their favor.
